Negative Is The Only Way For McCain

advertisement

In order for John McCain to win the election, he must come to the realization that very few people are going to vote for him. He creates very little excitement and at this point, he has failed to grab enough of the republican base to secure a victory. McCain needs to realize that moving from the center to the base is a very tough way to win an election. This is the path he chose and now he has to now deal with that if he expects to be our next President.

This election is about one thing and one thing only. This election is about Obama. A large majority of people are either going to vote for or against Obama, not for or against McCain.

McCain must now go back on his word of running a clean campaign and go about 80% negative. In order to win, he must expose Obamas socialist views and radical associations (Rev. Wright, Bill Aires, Etc..). He also must expose Obamas tax agenda as one that will crush our economy and the "celebrity" like status that Obama has gained. Attack him on experience and his past voting record on issues such as abortion and drilling.

Hillary Clinton (and Bill too) has done all they can do to help McCain. They took the primary to the end beating up Obama during every step. Earlier this week, Bill took a shot at Obama during an interview. When asked about Obamas "Race Card" Bill responded with "I am not a racist." That was a subliminal shot that was meant to hurt him, and I believe it has. The Clintons are 100% in the tank for McCain and we should expect more of these little shots by them as the election nears.

The more race is mentioned, the more it hurts Obama. McCain did nothing to bring it up and he has been doing a great job keeping it out of the campaign. Obama is the one making race an issue, and its hurting him badly. Race could end up costing Obama the election, but if that's the case, it would be because he wouldn't just be quiet about it and either go negative on McCain or Positive on himself.

I thought the "Paris Hilton" ad and the "The One" ads were brilliant. They brought up one of the most important issues in this campaign. The mainstream media believed that it was helping Obama with all the positive press, but those two ads proved them wrong. Those ads show Obama as nothing more than a fad, and American's don't want that.

If I were McCain, I would do one of two things. I would either go 80% negative on Obama all the way until the debates or I would just try my best and stay as low key as possible while still getting my name out there. There is a good chance that Obama will just hurt himself enough to force a McCain victory, but what's the harm in McCain giving him some help.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Nicely written original piece.

However, I don't agree with your point of view. We should desire the most honest, substantive campaign that each candidate can deliver.
